Households across the UK have always been keen to explore options for tackling rising energy prices, and in 2011 the popularity of domestic solar panels started climbing. Despite being new technology, the promise of turning your property into your own power plant was big appeal, and at the time the UK Government climbed aboard, offering incentives that made solar panel installation a worthy investment.

In 2022, the UK received less sunlight than 89% of European countires, equating to half the total sunlight of Spain, Portugal and Greece, and studies show that the times the solar panels produce the most energy are the times that the average UK household is using the least energy, resulting in significant wastage.
